Gary Morsch, MD, MPH
Founder & Executive Chairman
Dr. Gary Morsch is an emergency medicine physician who has dedicated his life to volunteer service. He founded several mission-focused organizations, including COVID Care Force, Heart to Heart International, and Docs Who Care. Global Care Force evolved from COVID Care Force, which Dr. Morsch began in March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
When the pandemic began, Dr. Morsch quickly mobilized a group of health care professionals to deploy to hotspots and areas of critical healthcare staffing shortages. Many of these under-resourced communities begged Dr. Morsch not to forget them after the pandemic. Global Care Force continues to send volunteer health care professionals to underserved locations experiencing critical staffing shortages.
In 1995, Dr. Morsch founded Docs Who Care, a medical staffing company that provides ED and in-patient staffing to 100+ hospitals throughout the Midwest. Docs Who Care gives medical professionals the flexibility to serve in a volunteer capacity to people in need throughout the world.
He also co-founded Heart to Heart International, a nonprofit organization that improves healthcare access in the U.S. and across the world. Since 1992, Heart to Heart has delivered over $2 billion in medicine and aid to 135 countries and maintains a network of thousands of volunteers.
Dr. Morsch enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 17, retiring with the rank of Colonel. He served many combat tours during his career as a battalion surgeon and combat hospital commander. He has authored numerous books, including the best-seller, The Power of Serving Others, and his latest, You’ll Never Be the Same.
Gary and his wife, Vickie, reside on a farm outside Kansas City. They have four children and fifteen grandchildren.

Our History
In 2020, Dr. Gary Morsch founded COVID Care Force in response to the global coronavirus pandemic. He mobilized volunteer medical professionals to areas with critical staffing shortages due to COVID-19 to support frontline workers.
The pandemic put a strain on healthcare systems across the globe and highlighted inequities. Every day, a disproportionate amount of communities struggle to provide adequate care to patients. These communities asked Dr. Morsch not to forget about them once COVID was under control. He vowed not to forget them, and in 2022, COVID Care Force evolved into Global Care Force.
Dr. Morsch envisions Global Care Force as a bridge to providing high-quality medical care in under-resourced communities. Global Care Force continues the mission of COVID Care Force to send skilled and compassionate medical volunteers where they are needed. GCF volunteers are committed to doing whatever it takes to make life better for those in need. In the process, they experience transformation in their own lives through volunteering and service to others.
