Global Care Force was founded on a simple conviction: when people choose to serve, they can make an extraordinary difference.
Founded by physician and humanitarian Dr. Gary Morsch, Global Care Force grew from decades of experience mobilizing volunteers to meet healthcare needs around the world. From the beginning, the vision has been about more than sending people on a mission. It has been about connecting professional skill with meaningful service—and doing so in ways that strengthen the communities being served.
BORN IN A GLOBAL CRISIS
Our story began when the world needed people to step forward.
Global Care Force traces its roots to 2020, when COVID Care Force was created in response to the unprecedented strain the pandemic placed on healthcare systems and communities.
Medical professionals answered the call, deploying to COVID-19 hotspots and underserved communities across the United States and Mexico. In its first chapter, 1,300 medical professionals registered to serve, and COVID Care Force volunteers served 250,000 patients.
As the immediate pandemic response evolved, so did the organization. COVID Care Force became Global Care Force—carrying forward the same commitment to mobilize skilled professionals wherever healthcare access is under extraordinary strain.
FROM RESPONSE TO SUSTAINED CARE
Global Care Force’s evolution reflects a simple lesson learned through years of service: meeting immediate needs matters, but lasting impact requires the commitment to keep showing up.
- 2020 — RESPOND
A global pandemic creates an urgent need. COVID Care Force mobilizes healthcare professionals into communities facing critical healthcare shortages.
- 2021 — EVOLVE
The emergency response develops into Global Care Force, carrying the commitment to mobilize skilled professionals beyond the pandemic.
- 2022 — EXPAND
War disrupts healthcare access in Ukraine. What begins with medicines and medical supplies expands into repeat mobile medical deployments.
- 2023–TODAY — SUSTAIN
A dedicated in-country field team, returning volunteers, local coordination, essential medicines and sustained deployments create an ongoing program of care.
Our work has evolved. The commitment has not.
As humanitarian needs have changed, Global Care Force has changed with them. Our teams have served in communities affected by crisis, displacement, limited healthcare access, and prolonged conflict.
Through that experience, one need became increasingly clear: communities do not simply need care in a moment of crisis. They need access to care as the crisis continues and throughout the longer path to recovery.
That understanding shapes Global Care Force today. We mobilize healthcare professionals and humanitarian support volunteers through sustained, repeat deployments, supported by an in-country field team that maintains relationships, coordinates care, and helps ensure each team builds on the work of those who came before it. Together, our volunteers bring a wide range of skills, experience, and compassion to the teams and communities we serve.

Dr. Gary Morsch, MD, MPH
Physician, humanitarian, and longtime advocate for volunteer service, Dr. Gary Morsch founded Global Care Force around the belief that people are created to serve and that professional skills can become a powerful force for good.
Today, he continues to serve Global Care Force as Founder and Chairman of the Board.
Today, Global Care Force brings together volunteers, donors, partners, and an experienced field team around a shared purpose: inspiring people to serve while helping sustain access to healthcare in communities facing extraordinary challenges.
