When Crisis Continues, So Must Our Response
by Brenda Poor

Friends,

When disaster strikes or war breaks out, people rush to help. But once the headlines fade, so does the urgency. After all, it didn’t happen in our community.

Yet for those living through these crises, nothing has changed. Their hardship continues through no fault of their own. In Ukraine, war still rages. The sound of drones and explosives still fills the air. Families worry daily that a loved one will not return. And the fear of renewed occupation lingers in the back of their minds.

In the Middle East, refugees struggle to survive without a safety net. Many are barred from working, denied dignity, and often treated as less than human because of their religion or nationality. Their plight rarely makes the news.

In Tijuana, Mexico, a volunteer recently served alongside the Missionaries of Charity Sisters. She was stunned by the poverty she encountered, slums pieced together as “homes,” the stench of sewage hanging in the air.

These struggles may not be our concern, but I ask, what if this was you? The people we serve may speak a different language or look different from us, but their needs are no different than ours; safety, food, shelter, medical care, and above all, hope for a better future.

Global Care Force is light for those living in the darkest time of their lives. You can be part of that light. Purchase your ticket today for the Healing Hands, Global Hearts Dinner on Sunday, October 5, or send a generous gift to ensure this vital work continues.

Your support fosters global stability, restores dignity, and reminds people they are not forgotten.

With gratitude,

Gary
