Friends of the Force: Paul Fuhrmeister, MD
by Lauren Seaman

“As a volunteer with Global Care Force, the most common response I heard was “Thank you for coming here.” It was gratifying to offer a compassionate presence in tangible and immediate ways.” – Paul Fuhrmeister, MD

I volunteered in 2020 with COVID Care Force (now Global Care Force). I was so impressed with their purpose and energy that I volunteered two more times. Later I chose to support more volunteer teams by becoming a regular donor. Since then, I’ve been excited to be involved as their work has expanded even further to new regions.

GCF works hard to identify human needs, to recruit and support volunteers, and to provide needed medical supplies. All of this behind-the-scenes work would be impossible without dedicated staff and financial support to make it happen. Though I am no longer in a position to volunteer, I can continue to participate by donating regularly. From my own experience I am confident that the GCF uses their resources wisely and effectively.

In choosing where to donate, I support organizations that offer compassionate service, respecting the dignity of those receiving the care. I also look for organizations that give direct person-to-person care to those who need it, and excellent administrative and security support for volunteers. I find that the Global Care Force does all these things and more.

I would encourage anyone to become a regular donor to Global Care Force, to be an active part of their expanding compassionate work around the world. I can vouch for their impact—reaching out and showing people that they are not forgotten or abandoned.
