In October, Global Care Force Ukraine Medical Director Dr. Lev Prystupiuk traveled across the U.S. to share firsthand accounts of how volunteers are transforming lives in Ukraine. From Kansas City to Phoenix, Denver, and Washington, D.C., audiences heard powerful stories of courage, compassion, and resilience amid war.
The tour began in Kansas City, where the International Relations Council hosted a panel discussion with Dr. Prystupiuk and Roxanne Jones, Global Care Force Vice President of Global Programs. Together, they highlighted the ongoing medical response in Ukraine and how Global Care Force Mobile Medical Teams return month after month to de-occupied villages, ensuring people continue to receive the care and medications they depend on. Kansas City University’s Executive Director of University Relations, Elizabeth Alex, moderated the discussion. Alex is also a Global Care Force Board Member.
Past Arizona volunteers, Stu Richards, PA, and Josh Wallbrecht, MD, hosted intimate gatherings for friends and colleagues. Dr. Prystupiuk shared how volunteers are bringing healing and hope to communities devastated by war and answered questions on how attendees can support Global Care Force’s work in Ukraine.
The next stop took Dr. Prystupiuk to Denver, where two panel discussions were held, both moderated by FOX Denver Anchor Jeremy Hubbard, who traveled to Ukraine with Global Care Force last November and aired a special report, “1,000 Days of War Ukraine: Coloradans Helping in Ukraine.”
The first event, hosted by Project Safeguard and volunteer Leanna Stoufer, featured Dr. Prystupiuk, Leanna, and Bob Downs, PA, who has signed up to serve in Ukraine for a seventh time.
The second event, hosted by the Ukrainians of Colorado, brought together voices united in support of Ukraine, including board member Mark Dillen and Global Care Force’s Dr. Lev Prystupiuk and volunteers Bob Downs and Leanna Stoufer. During the event, Global Care Force presented Marina Dubrova, Board President of Ukrainians of Colorado, with a Ukrainian flag signed by patients served by volunteers, an emblem of gratitude and shared commitment.
Washington, D.C. was the tour’s final stop where Dr.Prystupiuk joined Global Care Force Founder, Dr. Gary Morsch, at the InterAction Forum. Together, they met with other NGOs and government officials to strengthen partnerships and explore new opportunities to expand volunteer-led medical relief in Ukraine and beyond. Dr.Prystupiuk and Dr. Morsch were also interviewed by Mike Walter, host of Full Frame, on the television network CGTNAmerica.
